Typically, when someone goes for a retro beauty look, they zero in on one specific era for an overall effect, or perhaps they mix an element from one bygone time into otherwise contemporary vibes. It’s not every day that someone successfully combines distinct looks from two entirely different time periods into a single hairstyle, but for Florence Pugh, today is the day.
Pugh is doing the press rounds for Thunderbolts, the latest Marvel movie, and she’s going all-out glam for her media appearances. On the morning of Wednesday, April 30, she appeared on both Live With Kelly and Mark and Good Morning America, and while her character, Yelena, may wake up and choose violence, Pugh woke up and chose—well, it actually looks like she couldn’t choose between two signature hairstyles from the ‘60s and the ’80s.
Spotted outside GMA and surrounded by fans, Pugh wore her lob-length, blonde shag half-up with a hint of waviness. And it seems she and stylist Evanie Frausto decided to combine two of the most memorable big-hair styles of their respective eras: 1960s-style bouffant volume on top, and the side-swooped, lifted mall bangs of the late 1980s up front.
